In The Groove MSF Review: Petticoat, By Candlelight, & Stereo Rose

MAC re-released a couple of mineralized skinfinishes in the recent In The Groove collection, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on Stereo Rose, which sold out within hours online and also in stores, and Petticoat which is quite popular also. I had already had By Candlelight when it came out with the Warm & Cozy collection, but it was never swatched or reviewed. Here are swatches (there is a concentrated swatch and a blended swatch) and my thoughts on each of the products:

Petticoat $28.00

Petticoat is a beautiful mauve pink shade in everyone's favorite MAC mineralized skinfinish. It has a light pink base with raspberry gold glitter veining through the product. I think it's a perfect frosty blush, and for my skintone, it is a gorgeous color for a natural blush. It is a great year round color as you can use it as a highlight or blush as you wish. The light raspberry/pink color is very subtle. It is definitely a daily wearable product. I rate it a 4/5.

By Candlelight $28.00

I have had By Candlelight since the past winter from the Warm & Cozy collection. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it, and I am glad it is back so others could give it a try. It's a very light pink peach frost. By candlelight is my go-to highlight. It is always the perfect color as a eyebrow highlight too. Dust a little underneath, and your arch is immediately illuminated. As an MSF, it is an awesome product, I rate it a 5/5.

Stereo Rose $28.00

I had very high hopes for this product after hearing all the rave about Stereo Rose, so after seeing it sell out online that fast. I called my MAC counter at a Macy's once it opened to have them hold it for me. They have always been really sweet, because I had plans to leave town that morning and wouldn't be back until the evening. I told them my situation, and they happily held the product. Anyway, I really really excited for the product, and when I finally got it, I was disappointed. It is a coral orange based product with fine deep brown veins running through it. Maybe I was picturing a different color, but it is a bit too orange for me. It isn't a bad product, but my hopes were way too high. If I could choose between this and Petticoat, I would choose Petticoat. Regardless, it is an okay coral type blush for me to use. I rate it a 4/5, it is a good item, I just expected too much.
